IT'S TIME. MT. SHASTA NORDIC IS RAISING FUNDS FOR A SNOW CAT GROOMER.
We have a goal. And a plan. We've also got key support from the Mt. Shasta Ski Park, as they have committed to support our operations by storing, fueling, and maintaining a snow cat for us. Now we need a strong show of support from the community to make this happen and to keep our Nordic Center in operation.
The goal is to raise as much as we can to purchase the best machine to do the job for many years to come. A new snow cat is $175,000, a good used machine starts at $100,000. There's the target range. We are looking to purchase a machine in 2011 in time for the 2011/2012 ski season. Wow, that's a lot of money. But don't think for a moment that we can't do this. A strong show of support from the community right now will help attract key dollars from potential grantors. That combined with a significant amount that Mt. Shasta Nordic has already managed to set aside over the last few years, and before you know it, we've got our own snow cat to groom out the trails for years to come at the Mt. Shasta Nordic Center.
